Marco Mantovani
ci ha inviato la sua ultima realizzazione, una SWM Trial con trasformazione 4
tempi.
Marco non si è limitato a montare un motore 4 tempi di serie ma si è dedicato alla
trasformazione del motore Rotax 2T (motore di serie della SWM Trial). Un’impresa non
facile che ha dato buoni risultati.

SWATTRO 315
Il progetto partì nel lontano 1999, quando già definite misure base della trasformazione
confidai all’amico Angelo ‘Mick’ Pensini i miei intenti, allorché mi disse: ‘….fermo lì,
ti do io la moto per fare questo esperimento….’ e mi diede una Cota 315R ufficiale….da qui
scaturirono tre moto, la prima modificata nel telaio nel 2001, la seconda con modifiche
minime nel telaio nel 2002, moto oggetto di prova su motocross prima e su phototrial dopo
nel 2003; la terza, dotata di iniezione vide la luce nel 2006….ma questa è un’altra
storia….
Dopo le vicissitudini sopra descritte, altri impegni intrapresi successivamente
(trialistici e professionali….) tennero fermo questo motore sul banco fino al 2012 quando
iniziai il primo montaggio su un telaio SWM di serie che mi permise di saggiare le
potenzialità del motore rendendo però oltremodo problematico lo sviluppo a causa di
ingombri del telaio originale; intrapresi quindi l’allestimento di tre telai che
permettessero la possibilità di sviluppare il motore agevolmente.
Il primo telaio è quello delle foto, mentre il secondo e il terzo incorporano affinamenti
minimali della ciclistica;
lo sviluppo del motore è andato avanti per tutto il 2013, raggiungendo in autunno
prestazioni degne di nota, quindi interpellai per una prova il pilota SWM per eccellenza:
Danilo Galeazzi.
La prova ebbe luogo in gennaio 2014 con risultati incoraggianti, tanto chè il debutto in
gara è stato a Crodo 2014 dove Danilo è arrivato terzo della sua categoria dietro a due
piloti con moto moderne….
Ma ora parliamo della trasformazione:
basamento motore: SWM 350 TL (il motore del Jumbo, per intenderci…)
cilindro: ricavato dal pieno, camicia in ghisa speciale e pistone costruito
appositamente
testa: derivata da motore Kawasaki
cilindrata: 315.3 cc (78x66)
accensione: derivata da motore Honda con CDI programmabile
carburatore: Dell’Orto PHBL27 (26 ovalizzato a 27)

The project started in the far 1999, when already defined the bore and stroke of modified
engine, talking to the friend Angelo ‘Mick’ Pensini rely on my purposes, he told

factory….from this work arisen three bikes, the first with modified frame in the 2001, the

After what described above and other projects after (trials and professional….) imposed a
stop on the shopfloor bench of this engine up to 2012 when started the first merry-up of
the engine on the SWM frame not modified that allow me the first test of the engine with
good results but the original frame doesn’t allow the easy tuning of the engine, therefore
I modified three frames with better handling of the engine accessory (i.e.
carburettor….).
The first frame is on the photos, and the second and third have other minimal
differences.
The engine development was during all 2013, reaching in the autumn good performances,
therefore I asked for the test the driver ‘simbol’ of SWM: Danilo Galeazzi.
The first test was in january 2014 with good results, after that the first competition
test was Crodo 2014, Danilo was third of its category behind two driver with modern
bikes….
But now little engine description:
